Trailer

A newly discovered treasure trove of Reggae tapes from Studio 17 (also known as “Randy’s”) located in downtown Kingston, Jamaica provides the starting point for this remarkable film which takes a nostalgic look at the breeding ground of this revolutionary and internationally famous music genre . Studio 17 welcomed a roster of famous artists, producers and musicians who recorded there including: Bob Marley & the Wailers, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Peter Tosh, Gregory Isaacs, Dennis Brown, Alton Ellis, Carl Malcolm, Jimmy London and many more. Forty years on, and stunning recordings have now been unearthed from this ‘golden age’ of reggae, many of which were unreleased and unheard before. This film witnesses the recording of the teenage voice of the late Dennis Brown being beautifully re-mixed with the vocals of rising British teenage star, Hollie Stephenson. This soon to be released track “When You Get Right Down To It” is magically orchestrated by producer and one time Eurythmics star, Dave Stewart.
